HIRE CARAVANS
Revised November 2008

Rates (See "Hire vans" for current prices)
Standby rates may be available in non-peak times.
All rates shown include G.S.T. and state taxes. Quotes are given for hire in excess of four weeks.
Deposits are 25% of the total hire.
A combined $1,000 security bond covers insurance with C.I.L. and their $500.00 excess. The remainder is held as a bond for damage and is held for fourteen days after the return of the van. A credit card imprint is sufficient. Long term hire will attract a bond of $500 per month.

Payments
The total hire is to be paid on departure. We accept cash, cheque, EFTPOS, Visa, or Mastercard. A cancellation fee is applicable for cancellations within three weeks of the booking date.

Cleaning
The hire van is to be returned in a clean and tidy condition with the fridge cleaned, emptied and defrosted. Excessive cleaning may result in a charge against your bond.

Smoking
Smoking is not permitted in the vans.

Pets
Pets are not allowed inside the vans.

Accidents or breakdown
Should an accident or breakdown occur, notify the hirer A.S.A.P. or C.I.L. Insurance. A copy of the policy is in the manual. It is the hirees responsibiliy to get the van to a safe place whilst repairs are effected to the tow vehicle or the van. Your insurance will cover this cost in the event of an accident, but not mechanical failure.
Any damage of any sort should be reported to the local police and a report obtained. The hiree shall obtain all particulars of any other vehicle or mallicious damage or theft, etc.

Damage during hire period
Any damage occasioned outside wear and tear is to be effected by the hiree or the costs adjusted against the security bond. Tyres, punctured, blown or shredded, are to be replaced prior to returning - retread or recap tyres not permitted.
Any cost above the bond amount will be met by the hiree.
Vinyl flooring is easily damaged when goods are stored on the floor. Care must be taken to pack suitcases, Eskys and the like to prevent sliding and tilting which may cause damage to timberwork or flooring.
Any items broken or faulty can be repaired in transit and the hirer will reimburse up to $100.00 without authority. Globes, elements and the like can be fixed without reference. Receipts need to be produced.

Annexes
These options are not insurable and the total responsibility for them is with the hiree. The cost of repairs or replacement outside the bond is to be paid by the hiree.

Stabilizers (level load hitch) and mirror extenders
These items are supplied by the hirer at no additional charge if required. Ensure that your tow ball is free to have stabilizers fitted.

Restricted areas
The "Jayco Manual Handbook" describes accurately where the various types of vans can and can't go. In short, "on road" means bitumen only other than dirt access roads to camping areas or national parks. "Off road" means all major roads and sundry roads. dirt or bitumen, other than 4WD tracks labelled "4WD only". Roads excluded for caravans such as the Tanami Track, Gibb River Road, Canning Stock Route and Sturt Stony Desert areas should be treated with caution. Caravans and camper trailers are not to be taken accross swollen creeks or rivers regardless.
Consequential damage caused by poor selection of road and its conditions is to be met entirely by the hiree.
Off road and dirt road use will attract an additional cleaning fee.

Hire periods
Our minimum hire period is one week in normal times and ten days during school holidays. A 10% school holiday, public holiday surcharge applies if the booking is less than ten days.
Long time hire for touring is available.

Braking systems & electrical connections
All vans have electric brakes. Some have an override option for emergencies. It is the hiree's responsibility to have an electric brake controller fitted. All vans have a standard seven pin flat plug.

Loading and vehicle compatibility
Specs vary from tow bar manufacturers, vehicle manufacturers and road safety groups. We cannot hire to the owner of a vehicle that does not comply. We can assist with loading techniques but the ultimate responsibility is with the hiree.

Qualifications
Drivers must be over the age of 25 years and hold a current drivers license issued in Australia. The tow vehicle is to have current registration for the hire period and have a current comprehensive insurance policy.
